Help send local kids to sports camps and support the mentoring project

In memory of our friend J.B.

The Chapel Hill and Carolina communities lost an integral and loyal member, J.B. Cissell. Like many, he came for college and never left. He worked at UNC and with Inside Carolina for many years and his loss is felt deeply by those that knew him well or were touched by his kindness.

For those who would like to donate in his memory, a memorial fund has been set up in coordination with a local organization that was near and dear to his heart: Volunteers for Youth

Through the mentoring program, community service program, and teen court program, Volunteers for Youth works to provide Orange County youth in need with the tools to become responsible adults.

J.B. served as a volunteer mentor for children there. He had a long history, personally and professionally, of caring about the welfare of children. Combining J.B.’s concern for children with his love of UNC athletics, VYF will be using the memorial fund for its mentoring programs, creating scholarships to send local children to UNC sports camps.

If you are so moved, please consider a donation in his memory.
